WiscoVote

For the 2018 midterm elections, voter turnout was 61.2% in Wisconsin, which is significantly higher than in previous midterm elections.

Project challenge

Build a website that aggregates useful information for voters using publicly available data sources and APIs.

Our solution

The site uses the Google Civic Information API to retrieve election-specific data, the Google News API to fetch election news, the ProPublica Data Store API to get legislative information, and KML from the Wisconsin State Legislature’s Open Data Portal to draw district maps. Here’s the website on various devices.
